Weekend Getaway

Jared and I went to Salt Lake and met our friends Katie and Curtis this weekend for a much needed getaway. We were celebrating Valentines day for the first time in our married life with more than a card and an "old couple peck on the cheek" (Usually, he gives me a card, and I say "thanks", and kiss him on the cheek and that is all. Well this year I decided we needed to do something more.) We met, which turned out to be incredibly convienient due to a freak coincidence, at "The Gateway". For those of you who have never been there, you should go. It has all kinds of stores, and restuarants, and is a great atmoshpere. They even had little fire pit thingys that you could warm up your hands with. I didn't get to visit hardly any of the stores I wanted to, but what I did see I really liked. I wished we had more time to look around. We ate McGrath's Fish House, and I even went out on a limb and ordered something I had never had. For the first time I wasn't pregnant or nursing so I could try new things. I ordered the apricot orange roughy, which was really really good. The bread was really good, the clam chowder was very fresh tasting, and the company was fun. It was nice to not have to fix or clean up, not to mention the fact that I didn't have to remind anyone to sit on their bottom, or eat their vegetables.
After dinner we went to a Jazz game. We sat WAY at the top, and I sat next to a 15 year old boy who was great until he got drunk...than he started yelling obscenities. Besides that it was really exciting, although I am getting extremely old because the noise really bothered me. After the game we got some chocolate covered blueberries and raspberries that were to die for, and cost about 50 cents a piece, and some frozen custard at Neilsons. I would probably gain 500 pounds within a month if I lived less than 100 miles from that place..it was SO GOOD. Speaking of being old, when got back to the hotel, we slept in separate beds. It was really nice to be able to spread out.
All and All it was a great weekend, it just needed to be longer.
