Okay, I have a serious case of the winter blues. Life is so dreary when the sun doesn't shine, and I have decided that next January (what a long month!) I need to take Jared's suggestion of "let's go to Hawaii" seriously. Maybe it is because it has been a really long time since we have had this much snow, but I just feel like it is NEVER going to be summer again. Well, today I realized mid-sentence, as I was yelling and throwing an irrational temper tantrum over some spilled milk, that I needed to focus on some positive things that would pull me out of my dark mood. So here is my list of things to be happy about in the middle of a REALLY blue case of winter blues:
1. I very well might have THE most amiable 18 month old EVER. She has slept through the night since she was two months old, she entertains herself most of the time, she smiles all the time, she gives hugs and kisses out freely to everyone, even strangers (which could be a bad thing, but right now it is positively charming). She even went into nursery without any crying.
2. Being inside all the time means I have to clean and do laundry. Those of you who know me know clutter drives me NUTS. So today, I was so bored because Jared had the van, and even if I did have the car it is too cold and crummy to go anywhere, so I de-cluttered my bookcase in my room and the junk drawer in the kitchen. I discovered all kinds of things that I had been looking for! I was so happy!
3. My kids have learned how to entertain themselves and they have actually played with all the toys they got for Christmas!
4. All the bad weather has given me an opportunity to really learn how to plan for emergencies. I actually know what I need and don't need, and what I use and don't use, because even though I live literally one block from Target, I still avoid going out because it is such a pain with the kids. So now I can really smartly go get that food storage.
5. Blogging. Blogging really makes me happy. I love to read what others are doing, and see pictures and live vicariously through people who actually have a life!
Well there you have it. Five reasons that winter is good, and five reasons to be positive. Alas, I still wish I were on a beach somewhere (with someone else's body of course) sipping some sort of drink with one of those cheap umbrellas, and reading a really good book.

I love your happy list, reading it made ME happy! They cancled church today because we got more snow...which I LOVE by the way. Hate the sun LOVE the clouds so maybe in the summer I'll have to make a happy list! THANKS!
Boy, my spelling was atrocious on my deleted comment:
What a lovely list! I was so blah yesterday too, I get the winter blues as well. Moe, I added pics of our snow on my blog, bittersweetchocolatekiss.blogspot.com so you can see why I feel absolutely buried!
And check to see if you have some sort of something checked so that you don't provide a rss feed. I don't check yours often enough since it doesn't show up on my reader!
