Single Motherhood

I am not accustomed to Jared being out of town very much. He isn't one of those guys who has to go out of town all the time for business. I count myself as a lucky woman for this reason because I know many ladies who are constantly having to "hold down the fort" while their husbands go out of town for trainings or whatever. This weekend was different for me because Jared went to Las Vegas to see his brother and go to a couple of NCAA games and I was left to take care of things here. He never gets to see his brother and he works way too hard so this was a much needed break for him, and I was glad that he got to go. Let me just say, however, that being a "single mom" is hard. I wasn't super stressed out or anything it is just emotionally and physically exhausting to not have the other person there to help with the kids and to give the support needed to be a mom. It was a fun weekend, for both Jared, and the kids and I, but I am glad that he is coming home, and isn't leaving again any time soon. Saturday we did all kinds of shopping and went to the park, and even went to a rock climbing clinic. That was stressful to try to keep track of everyone by myself! Today at church there was one point where I had Nathan in a head-lock and Lawren in a choke hold to keep them from poking and bothering each other. It isn't like I can't handle them by myself, it is just that is so much easier to have him here. Kudos to those of you who do it all the time.

Yeah, I will second your kudos because I don't like to do it either.

I agree with you there. Steve had knee surgery and it was like I was taking care of two kids without any help. I was so glad when it was all over!!!! Single moms are amazing!

so funny--so glad you have your hubby's support most of the time!

Micah's leaving town tomorrow for work, he does this every 3or 4 months it seems. He won't be back till Monday. I never have his help on Sundays for church anyways since he sits on the stand, but having him gone on sat and after church on Sunday is going to be so lonesome.
