Sand, Sun Burns, and Mosquitos

I have spent A LOT of time in the sun lately. Wednesday we went to Rigby Lake for play group, which I wasn't very excited about, but the kids had so much fun. It was a pretty hot day, a good thing for an activity like that. Lyndi had so much fun swimming, and did it pretty well (I was pleasantly surprised at her lack of fear), Seth had fun throwing rocks into the lake and watching them splash. Usually I discourage throwing rocks, but he wasn't throwing them at anyone for a change so I didn't get after him. Nathan was in heaven getting the most sandy out of anyone there. He also got sand in the cookies, sandwiches, and all over the blanket. I buried him in the sand too....he had it stuck to him pretty good, and I had my work cut out to get it off of him in the shower at home. Lawren had so much fun standing in the water and splashing everyone including me. It was fun to see her really not be afraid of the water even though she lost her footing a couple of times and almost drowned. I had to be on my toes so I could rescue her when this happened.

Thursday, the next day, we went to St. Anthony for Jared's family reunion. It was....hot. We set up our tent in Jared's sister 's backyard and actually slept really good. She lives really close to the Snake River so there were TONS of mosquitos to contend with. Lyndi has the sweetest blood out of all of us apparently- she got eaten alive despite my constant vigilance and bottle of bug spray. Jared took Lyndi, Seth, and Nathan to the St. Anthony rodeo, and I stayed back with a grumpy Lawren. They said it was a lot of fun. We also went to the St. Anthony parade, which was not fun for Jared or I or any of the adults, but it was great for the kids. They got so much candy is was like Halloween. IT WAS SO HOT! It was a fun weekend, but we all are worn out from the sun.

Looks like fun, but I am kind of glad we didn't go because hearing about sand in food and trying to get it off in the shower is not so fun sounding! Not to mention the Sunscreen applications we would have had to do and a potentially grumpy baby!!!!
