Growing Up

Lyndi has been a member our family almost as long as we have been a family. We don't like to waste time, Jared and I, so she was born 8 months after we were married (for those of you who are raising your eyebrows it is because she was born two months early). Anyway, she has been through a lot with us. She has moved with us to three different states and heaven only knows how many houses. I rely on her a lot, and she is definitely seen the best and the worst in me, and she loves me anyway. Well, I have noticed, much to my dismay, that she is growing up. Maybe it is the permanent teeth or the glasses, or the fact that she is already getting calls to babysit, or that Lawren likes her more than me, but suddenly it seems like she has grown up. I realized today that she is halfway to 18, and then she will be gone to college and whatever else she decides to do. It's not that it is sad or anything, I actually like to see her becoming a young woman. It is just amazing how fast time flies. I remember a Sunday about four years ago where I had three young kids who were completely out of control during a particular sacrament meeting, and an older lady came up to me and said, "Enjoy them! Enjoy the while they are small!" I thought, "yea right!" Well, it is ironic, but now that I realize that they do eventually grow up, I find myself really cherishing each day that Lyndi wants me tuck her in and play games with her, because I know that it won't last forever. She is growing up!

Kind of teary eyed at the end there. :) We love Lyndi, but if she starts babysitting Lauren is going to be out of a job!

What a wonderful commentary about Lyndi. You are very blessed to have such a beautiful, talented, thoughtful kind, etc. daughter.
We love her too. It made me cry when you talked about she is half way to 18.
Love you,
Mom
