1st time for everything.

Well I did it! Nikki and I ran in the "Run to Feed the Hungry" on Thanksgiving day, and I tell you what, it just about did me in. Unfortunately I didn't get any decent pictures of it, because the camera was wigging out. Oh well. Jared informs me that I didn't "look to great" anyway. It was a lot harder than running on a treadmill, and instead of being 3.1 mile run it was a 4.o3 mile run. I guess they miscalculated? The hills made a big difference too, even though there weren't very many of them, and they were more inclines than hills. My shins and my calve muscles were both in pretty bad shape the rest of the weekend, but all in all I was pretty proud of myself for doing it, and proud of Nikki too! I didn't really reach my goal which was to run the whole thing without stopping to walk, but I ran most of it. I think I need to practice pacing myself before I do another one of those-I ran the first two miles WAY TOO FAST and then couldn't keep it up.
Nikki and I also went shopping the day after Thanksgiving at 6 am. I have never done that, but there were some good deals that I felt were worth it, so I did this year. It was pretty fun, and there weren't any rude people where we went. We went to four different stores and to IHOP, and had a good time. The longest line we stood in was at Kohl's ( an hour), and it went fast because we had a great conversation with the guy behind us. I think I may make it a tradition, because it does feel good to be practically done with my Christmas shopping! (Usually I am a procrastinator).

We also got to spend a lot of time with Jared's family. Jared's mom did a really fun little kids-only-with-Grandma Christmas party where she gave each of the grandkids a big box of their favorite cereal. The kids were so excited! Especially Nathan. I don't think they have eaten anything but cereal since. She had 15 kids the oldest being 9 at the party .....it was a very noisy and never boring holiday. There were lots of babies to hold, and the newest one (two days old) was the most sought after. Lawren was in heaven with all the babies

Anyway, this seemed to be a Thanksgiving of 1sts for me. It was fun to try some new things.

You're amazing! I couldn't do it unless forced too. Wow!

I got 16 webkinz for 3.50 each and that's all i cared about at the black friday sale. It was fun though.

Wow, congratulations. I was going to ask about your shirt but didn't get the chance tonight. That is pretty cool, good job to you and Nikki. A couple of my in-laws were in line at Khol's for an hour too. I really wish that I thought it was worth it, but my one time was not so amazing, so maybe another year I might try it again. Maybe I don't have enough competitiveness to like it? Thanks for the scones, I am going to have to make some for Libby.
