Family Council

We have finally reached the point in our family life that we actually have family council. Not that it was something that I always looked forward to or anything, but it is nice to call the kids together and actually have a conversation about things that are important to our family. We are not very consistent with it yet, but everyone once in awhile we try to be all official, and today was one of those days.

We called the kids together to discuss a trip that we have planned for the first part of October. We have been saving money for it and we are all really looking forward to it. Well, life happens, and Jared and I were discussing, (never arguing, always discussing) whether we should follow through with this trip....we ultimately decided that we were going to stick with our plans and needed to be more strict on how we spend our money now so we can go. Anyway, we called the kids upstairs to tell them that we weren't going to be going to many movies, eating out, etc. so we could save for our trip. The whole point was to have them brainstorm things we could do that didn't cost money, and ways we could save money......this is how it went:

As you can see it was quite successful (NOT!), but we are still going on our trip.

that's about how it goes at our house too. Only usually there is a bit more of the Lyndi picture going on.

Yeah ours too (looking like Lyndi) but we call it "Family Meeting" and Randal always says it fast like Dr. Leo Marvin in What About Bob. It really is quite fun to call together and the kids usually roll their eyes a little because they think it is always going to be about cleaning the house, which it is not, if it were, we would have a lot cleaner house!

Ours usually ends up in a wrestling match with the three boys in the middle of the floor on top of each other, Olivia trying to push everyone out of the way and Maddi and Makenna poking at the edges keeping it going.
