I was going to blog each night on our trip, but we didn't have internet access at our little cottage by the beach which we were staying. We are on our last leg of the trip -staying at a La Quinta Inn in Caldwell, ID, so right now we do have internet. I thought I would take advantage of it, since I know tomorrow when we get home I will have to play catch up on everything from laundry to kids' homework, to returning phone calls, to my homework, to grocery shopping, etc. and would most likely not get a chance to blog again. I didn't bring my camera cord with me however, and will have to wait until we get home to post pictures.
Monday we awoke and ate a McDonald's breakfast. All in all I wasn't overly impressed with La Grande, OR....It is a rather dirty town with horrible service. Anyway, we were off, and the kids behaved really well. Nathan continued with the questions of "is that the ocean?" Especially when we got to the Columbia River which is REALLY big. We had a relatively enjoyable drive. Portland was a little stressful, but after only one wrong turn we figured out where we were going and it wasn't that big of a deal. Western Oregon is a beautiful place. It is so green and heavily forested with vineyards everywhere. We arrived in Tillamook, OR where we ate and grocery shopped at Fred Meyer. We then finished our drive to Rockaway Beach, which is where the house that we rented was. I had been worried that it wouldn't have cable, or a dishwasher, or a nice shower, or anything to do for the kids. On the contrary, It had everything I thought I needed and more. We were grateful that it was a nice place, and literally RIGHT on the beach.
